When I came across the Ideal Daily Routine taught in my Ayurveda studies I was surprised that there isn't a lot more talk about the power of setting up a routine that leads to greater health. I was curious, was this just me? Was I the only one who hadn't considered the implications of designing my day to improve my health?
It turned out that many people had no clue that the choices they are making every day were negatively impacting their health. I did come across a few that knew some pieces and parts but often were full of reasons as to why not to do them. Some were super bold and told me they knew they should structure their day based on what they have discovered but they just don't. We live in strange times! As humans, we either distance ourselves from the proper functioning of our physiology so it is a riddle to us or if we know we just decide not to take care of ourselves. I am not going to judge anyone, because I am guilty of both sides of this coin. If my body wasn't constantly complaining about chronic issues that make my life supremely uncomfortable, I probably would still ignore most of the advice. I mean who doesn't just want to have fun? But is that really what is happening? Are people having so much fun as they purposefully choose to go against the way their body functions? Of the people I talked to that wasn't the case. Most people were extremely stressed, overworked, and very tired. They aren't living it up full of energy. In fact, many have endless lists of complaints and are somewhat perplexed as to why they feel so terrible. In comes the Ideal Daily Routine... Did you know if you go to bed before 10 pm every night you will be moving with the natural circadian rhythms of your body? I know, I know... You're a night owl by nature and have always been that way. Here is my challenge to you. Grab a tent and some firewood and go far away from the city where there is no light pollution. Stay there for one week without any devices or artificial lights. All you get is the light from the campfire to light up your evening. I bet you that by the second night you go to bed by 10 pm and sleep deeply and soundly until about an hour before the sun begins to rise. But I have insomnia, that won't work for me! The effects of artificial lights and stressful lifestyles are well known to those who study sleep disorders. You can read an article on this that has been reviewed by a medical doctor on the Sleep Foundation's site. You will discover that quality sleep each night leads to a reduction in heart disease, obesity, and dementia. So what do you do when you can't go away and live in the wilderness and drift naturally into a deep sleep with your circadian rhythm? This is where the Ideal Daily Routine can be structured to support you in doing this staying exactly where you are. Ayurveda allows this to be a personal approach. Some people don't sleep well because of the way they eat. Some don't because of the amount of anxiety. There are a wide variety of reasons that Ayurveda names to help you resolve the issue so they don't become excuses for poor health and early death. Taking a few hours out of your life to work with someone to help you refine your daily routine in a way that you feel you can achieve is paramount to longevity. I highly suggest everyone invest this time and energy so that you can save yourself thousands in unnecessary medical bills that could be prevented by just getting a good night's sleep tonight and every night!

AuthorThe purpose of this blog is to allow Sivani to express thoughts on Ayurveda, yoga & meditation that are not typically found when googling the topics. Sivani's deepest desire is to encourage autonomous living in all people. There are no infallible persons to whom one can turn for perfect guidance to ensure success. When it comes all the way down to it, we are each responsible for our choices regardless if others have led, will lead, or actively attempt to lead us in any direction either for our good or our destruction. Even the best-intentioned individuals make grievous mistakes. Yet, within each individual is an Infallible Source that governs all of existence. Through exploration and discovery, individuals can connect to and build a strong relationship with this Source and thus make their own choices based on their moral objectivity. Does this approach come at an expense? Potentially. But blindly following others has proven to be just as dangerous. Stimulating others to approach any and all exploration to deepen their first-hand relationship with the Inner Intelligence active within the confines of their nervous systems is Sivani's life's mission. The more this is done, the more the Inner Intelligence permeates and pervades all of creation and will be unmistakable. Archives
